Fresh from a 1-0 setback against Tampines Rovers on Friday at the Jalan Besar Stadium, the Stars will now go on familiar grounds as they host Home United for their 2nd game in 4 days - against another title challenger. Familiar would be the key word for Frederic Mendy, as the Senegalese-born striker would be looking to add salt into the wounds of his ex-employers.
Hicham Moudden, the new Chairman for Etoile FC, witnessed his new team 1st loss under him, when a sucker punch from Shahdan Sulaiman in the 1st half settled affair. The defence would have plenty of positive to take back from the game, as they managed to keep Duric very quiet in the game. Moreover, apart from that moment of brilliance from the would-be Young Lions, the Stars had numerous chances to equalize, although admittedly, Benoit Croissant had one of the best games of his life.
Home United, meanwhile, left Bishan Stadium with 3 points, with 1 man less, after garnering a 3-2 win in the 'uniform' derby. The Protectors will definitely lose Rosman Sulaiman as a result of his red card the game before. However, the Stars would have to worry about the threat that Qiu Li pose as the China-born Singapore striker could skin any defence on his day.
The Stars, though, would recall the tactical victory that they enjoyed when they last played Home United. 1-0 was the score for the day and a repeat, based on current form, may not be that far-fetched.
Our Prediction: Home United 1 Etoile FC 2
